Purchasers of a new freehold home or condominium unit can send a designate to the pre-delivery inspection in their place. If the purchaser is not attending the pre-delivery inspection with the designate, and the designate is signing documents on the purchaser's behalf, the builder should ask the purchaser to provide a written document like this one. Indicating the identity of the designate, and that the purchaser has given the designate authority to attend the pre-delivery inspection and sign the associated documents on his/her behalf. The purchase agreement should specify if the purchaser may only use Tarion's form, or the builder's own form, when appointing a designate.
